Ben Roethlisberger: Football Star And Philanthropist

EX-Pittsburg Steeler quarterback Ben Rothlisberger was a legend at Findley High School, in Ohio. He became the starting quarterback as a senior, threw for 4,041 yards, passed for 54 touchdown and ran for 7 more. All of those were state records. Plus, he was all league and all district in football, baseball and basketball. As a point guard on the basketball team, he averaged over 26 points and nine rebounds, played shortstop on the baseball team and was a .300 hitter. Roethlisberger was the captain of all three teams.

College And Pro Football

Ben Roethlisberger focused on football in college. He turned down a scholarship from Ohio State and instead played quarterback for Miami (Ohio) University. In his three years there, Roethlisberger had a 27 and 11 record as the starting quarterback. He completed 854 passes for 10,829 yards and 84 touchdowns.

He also had 14 300 yard games. Roethlisberger set 21 school records and had his jersey retired. In 2004, the Pittsburg Steelers drafted the 6-foot-5-inch, 240-pound, Roethlisberger with the 11th pick of the first round. He won Rookie of the Year, two Super Bowls and played 18 seasons for the Steelers. During his career, Roethlisberger passed for 64,088 yards and 418 touchdowns and made 6 Pro Bowls.
