Ben Roethlisberger Teams Up With Country Singer To Make A Difference

Two-time Pittsburgh Steeler Superbowl-winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is all about winning and giving back to the community. After over 20 seasons in the NFL, the retired footballer has had a lot more time to settle down into his family role and do other things in a way of giving back.

Not only has Roethlisberger started his own foundation that is focused on helping people build stronger family ties, but he has also donated his time to many other charitable efforts. It was recently announced that Roethlisberger is teaming up with country artist Micah Tyler to host the “Different” campaign. This is an effort to help feed the homeless and needed people around the city of Pittsburgh.

Both Tyler and Ben Roethlisberger are working alongside the Light of Life Rescue Mission. For every black and gold “Different” t-shirt that is sold, one meal donated, and Roethlisberger and his family will also make a donation to match.

“I feel really blessed and honored to be part of this effort. It just goes to show how much of a difference we can make as a community when we work together,” said Roethlisberger.

Tyler says she also feels blessed that she is part of the program. She says she met Ben Roethlisberger back stage after one of her concerts.

“I’ve been a fan of his for a very long time. I gave him one of my t-shirts and was really proud to see him wearing it during pre-season practice.”

It was after this when they came up with the idea to launch the campaign. The t-shirts will be available at the www.thedifferntshirt.com on Friday. Shirts are $25.

“We are really grateful that Ben and Micah are part of this effort to feed the homeless,” said Rev. Jerrel T. Gilliam, Executive Director of Light of Life. “They have really come through for us and the people of the city.”
