After completing her undergraduate studies in pharmacy at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Kawas went on to earn a PhD in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Colorado. She then joined Alcobra Pharmaceuticals, where she served in a variety of roles, including Vice President of Clinical Development and Medical Affairs. During her time at Alcobra, Kawas led the development of a breakthrough drug for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which has since been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
In 2018, Kawas founded M3 Biotechnology, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Under Kawas’s leadership, M3 Biotechnology has made significant progress in the development of a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, which is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials.
In addition to her work at M3 Biotechnology, Leen Kawas is also a sought-after speaker and advocate for women in science and technology.
