Randy Douthit – Overcoming Pandemic Challenges in the TV Industry

Randy Douthit, a seasoned executive producer who served as the mastermind behind the Emmy award-winning show Judge Judy for over 25 years, has faced many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic that shook the world in 2020. The TV industry was, without a doubt, severely hit by the crisis, leading to program delays, cost overruns, and production declines. However, Randy has remained resolute in his determination to overcome these difficulties and continue producing compelling content.

Working remotely kept the pace of Judge Judy, which filmed its final season during the pandemic. Randy later teamed up with Judy Sheindlin to produce episodes of Judy Justice, which required 120 episodes in three months – an undertaking Randy describes as “a lot.” However, everyone cooperated, worked hard, and got the job done.

Randy has had plenty of experience in the television industry, having started working at a local TV station while still in school. Through learning the value of hard work and dedication, he is willing to go above and beyond to guarantee that a show is successfully produced and aired.
