Did you know that Cordelia S. May was passionate about protecting Pennsylvania’s community? Due to his passions, she proudly founded the Colcom Foundation more than thirty years ago. She was concerned about the state’s local community, carrying capacity, and local environment, which are all interests of the organization.

In order to ensure that the local community is thriving, this prominent foundation supports a wide range of projects such as the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. One of the goals of this foundation is to ensure that humans aren’t having a detrimental impact on the earth. The foundation also supports the Touchstone Center for Crafts, an organization committed to helping artists learn new skills.

A big interest of the Colcom Foundation is conserving the local environment. As a result, the organization supports the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, an organization that strives to preserve areas of the state. The foundation is also passionate about supporting Westmoreland Land Trust.
