Many people think that the law is just a game of power where the powerful get to push their will onto the powerless. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The American legal system relies heavily on rights and protections which are guaranteed to everyone regardless of social status, sex, race or creed. People can expect basic freedoms like freedom of religion and speech as well as protection from discrimination in most cases including houses of worship and schools.
These freedoms are guaranteed by The Constitution and its First Amendment.
The Alliance Defending Freedom was founded on the principle that every American has a God-given right to freely live in accordance with their beliefs and that the laws of our nation should protect that right.
Alliance Defending Freedom is committed to protecting freedom for everyone, including people of all faiths as well as non-theists. The organization has defended the freedom of religious people to peacefully live, act and speak according to their beliefs. We defend religious freedom through the use of free speech and legal action to stop attacks made on those who exercise their right to live according to the dictate of their conscience. We will not tolerate being driven into silence by those who would suppress our First Amendment right.
The American legal system has a long history of protecting religious liberty and the Alliance Defending Freedom has worked hard to uphold this tradition and secure the rights of people who live according to their conscience.
The Alliance Defending Freedom has also helped protect the rights of those of non-Christian faiths, to worship in peace and without fear of intimidation. We have worked to defend Muslims who are unfairly targeted in the aftermath of Islamic extremist attacks. We have also assisted Jews and people of other faiths whose religious liberty is infringed upon by government agencies or other groups.
