Gretchen Robinson is the Director of Distribution and Member Relations at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC). As such, she ensures the organization serves NYC and its surrounding area. The Roosevelt Island Waterfront Corporation is dedicated to providing quality water access, trails, and recreational areas in a natural setting while allowing people to enjoy it all without paying.

She has led programs that have created skilled jobs for young people, grown the recreation business, and commissioned and fostered a quality of life through awareness and education programs. Gretchen is also active in local and national sports leagues as a board member of her son’s soccer team.

Before her position with RIOC, Gretchen Robinson was the Senior Director of Government and Community Affairs for AAA New York. She worked with community leaders in two of the largest AAA clubs and their affiliates there. She was also responsible for developing relationships between AAA clubs, other motorist associations, and various levels of government.

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) is a not-for-profit corporation that owns the physical plant and infrastructure on Roosevelt Island. It has its Government, Parks and Recreation Department, Police department, and Fire Department. It also has a full-service post office and a pharmacy. RIOC was founded to develop the island’s physical infrastructure and surrounding community. The goal is that, over time, all related facilities will be available on and off the island.

As a resident of Roosevelt Island and from her experience working with the community, Gretchen Robinson has helped shape the organization that serves NYC. The RIOC has maintained its focus on serving the people of NYC and maintaining a balance between nature and not harming it.
