Throughout Its History, the Colcom Foundation Has Focused on Making a Difference in Terms of Protecting the Environment
The history of the Colcom Foundation can be traced to its founding back in 1996. The organization is the creation of Codelia S. May. She is an individual who had a great amount of concern for the health of the planet and was passionate about taking steps to mitigate the damage done to it by humans. The Colcom Foundation is focused on addressing issues such as human overpopulation.
This is seen as the primary cause that has led to the 6th mass extinction. The area of focus for the foundation’s work is Pennsylvania’s southwestern corner. This includes activity across counties such as Beaver, Allegheny, Fayette, Lawrence, Westmoreland, and Armstrong. Within the scope of the foundation’s work is a focus on grantmaking. Colcom Foundation’s grantmaking efforts are conducted to support objectives of a humanitarian nature.
The funding interests supported by the Colcom Foundation include areas such as the local environment and community as well as issues related to carrying capacity.
